We would like to see everyone in Zimbabwe able to feed themselves on $50 for the first year. It is possible to then use surplus the following year, not requiring the need to spend another $50. We realise this is a process with small victories each year. Our initial focus is to partner with organisations that have the financial capability to purchase the Pfumvudza Packs on behalf of those less fortunate. We then undertake to follow up with training. We are also wanting to encourage businesses and individuals in Zimbabwe to purchase packs as part of end of year bonuses for their staff in order to prevent wastage of bonuses and encourage benefit for the whole family. Finally we are finding the best method to encourage the whole nation to purchase Intwasa Pfumvudza packs instead of mealie meal off the shelf as the cost saving is immense.

We also realize that pfumvudza can work with almost any crop grown in Zimbabwe. In 2015 and beyond we will be developing the packs for sorghum, sugar beans, ground nuts and more

2014 packs delivered: 12,000

2015 season target: 20,000 (maize)

2016 season target: 50,000 (maize and other crops)

Intwasa Pfumvudza is a method of farming that helps people to feed their family for a year on a very small are of land and as they learn to do this effectively, they are also able to sell the excess production for a profit. Pfumvudza is a very effective entrance point towards full organic, healthy farming.

Since Pfumvudza began in 2012, we have now grown to see approximately 5000 small scale farmers using Pfumvudza annually and a strong partnership has developed with Tribac Tobacco who are seeing positive results with their out growers.

Intwasa Pfumvudza and Foundations for Farming (A partner organisation) teach people to farm on time, to standard, without wastage and with joy. This includes teaching communities conversation agriculture. A key part of our teaching is that in time, fertilizer can be substituted for compost which is of greater benefit to the soil and reduces the need to purchase Pfumvudza seed packs.
Environment & Sustainability
Our Team

Berin and Sue Stockil live and farm in Marondera. They have two children, Gareth and Kerry, and have three grand-children. Berin is a home-grown farmer and Sue is a qualified nurse. They both love Jesus with all their hearts. Berin founded Intwasa Pfumvudza a number of years ago with a heart to see the nation of Zimbabwe feed itself. We live in a nation with all the elements required to produce food, but through lack of training and diligence Zimbabwe has a huge shortage of food. Their heart is to see Zimbabweans experience freedom as they are not reliant on others but can feed themselves each year.

Strategy

We care deeply about our nations resources. We want to make sure that they are preserved for generations to come. For this reason Intwasa Pfumvudza has been developed to protect our soils, reduce erosion and deforestation. Production of different crop packs, we will also be able to encourage crop rotation, further helping soil systems.

We have the privilege of working with some amazing organisations including Tribac tobacco and Omnia Nutriology. Tribac has been the first tobacco company in Zimbabwe to encourage its small scale farmers to adopt Pfumvudza in order to both feed themselves and look after the nations resources. Omnia produces fertiliser of the highest quality and have been incredibly helpful in production and delivery of customized input packs.
